Fun Fact: Sarasota first appeared on maps in the 1700's, taking on various spellings from Sara Zota to Zarazota to Sarasote, but the origin of it's name is still uncertain. One fitting explanation is that it may have been derived from a Spanish term meaning "a place of dancing."
